I have osteoporosis, and I am happy to say I have not had any broken bones! My bone density test show my 60 year old bones are like that of an 80+ year old women. However I am in pain every day, my knees, hips
,back and hands hurt the most. But my doctors say there is no pain with osteoporosis until you have a fracture or break. And X-rays have not shown much arthritis. How "much" do I need to have for them to explain the pain I have? Have any of you had pain without fracture or arthritis?
I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.
I think there was one great doctor for Osteoporosis, Dr. Darah Morgan. She retired. Everybody else goes by what the pharmaceutical salespeople are pushing. I do have a friend from India who is an MD… read more

I always thought that the pain in my joints, especially in my hands and knees was just part of aging. Now I don't know if the pain is from osteo or just age
I don’t have any pain from Osteoporosis but have a lot from Osteoarthritis. Also have Osteopenia that can be painful at times.
I seem to tire more easily. Is this part of having osteoporosis
I think pain makes us tired. I get so tired and depressed at times. Listening to music is helpful
I have been diagnosed for a little over 6 months. The pain is getting worse. I really do not want to take the meds the Dr. has prescribed. The side effects seem horrible. (The one the doctor recommended "Calcintonin" can cause cancer. it is a nasal spray. I'm looking for a more holistic approach. I came across an herbal supplement called AlgaeCal. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of/or tried this supplement. It is rather expensive but the testimonials are very positive. I'm wondering if it is… read more

My chiropractor and physiotherapist told me I had one leg longer than the other due to one hip being higher during my 40s years before I developed osteopenia.
There are some research articles on sites such as PubMed et al that address possible links between osteoporosis and macular degeneration, as well as the taking of biophosphonates for osteoporosis and macular degeneration. If one is currently taking biophosphonates for osteoporosis and develops macular degeneration, should one discontinue taking the osteoporosis medicine? I've been taking osteoporosis biophosphonates for 22 months and was just recently diagnosed with moderate dry macular… read more
Please learn about the effects of biophosphomates. I ended up with severe osteoporosis, a parathyroid tumor and kidney stones from them. Learn about vitamin K2. Let my mistakes help you. A good place… read more
I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,
