Anyone Taking HRT For Their Osteoporosis?
I was on Forteo for 15 months and my spine went from -2.9 to -3.0. My Endocronoglist and I agreed that I was going in the wrong direction. I am 61 and have a rare hormone disease called Kallman's Syndrome. We thought we would try Bonvia, Supplements, and a low dose of HRT. I take Climara Pro patch but only a half a patch a week. The regular does is 1 patch a week so it's a very low dose. I know that there are risks associated with HRT treatment for women my age but I feel that saving my bones… read more

I Have Been On Tymlos For A Year Now With Another Year To Go. Has Anyone Else Had Experience/results With This Medication?
Like many, I tried everything to improve or stabilize my bone density but finally had to accept the fact that I needed to take some medication.
I am in the same boat, not knowing the best safest route to take.
Hormone Replacement Therapy
Anyone's doctor recommend this. Mine wants me to take it for Osteoporosis. When I read the side effects I get unsure about taking it.
When I google it, it does say it is used to treat Osteoporosis after menopause.
Here is an article on bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. It is all natural. My sister-in-law has used it for about 8 months now and is acting and feeling about 20 yrs younger. I can't find… read more
For Fellow Canadians Only: To Whom Do You Go To For Comprehensive Medical Advice With Your Osteoporosis?
Here in Manitoba, the health care system is so broken many of us are now without even a family doctor. Whom do you turn to for advice/help with your osteoporosis?

Forteo
I fractured my femur bone, had surgery to implant titanium rods, and took a long time to recover. My diagnosis is Osteoporosis. I take Tums for calcium. I wonder why I wasn’t prescribed something like Forteo. I was told that my condition usually worsens, and I am high risk for more fractures.
Has anyone else been prescribed only Tums?
Awaiting your answer in 6 weeks. I must admit, I have rarely found natural or homeopathic remedies effective.
Has Anybody Tried Alternative Treatments And Succeeded In Stabilizing Their Condition With No Change In Their DEXA Scan Results?
Thank you for that. Nice to hear a positive result! Are you in the US? I'm in Florida. Is BioTe the brand name?
Can I Strengthen My Femur Thru Exercise And Medication? I Also Have Severe Arthritis In My Left Hip.
I am scheduled for a hip replacement in March due to arthritis but have also been told due to my osteoporosis they may need to use cement because my femur is that of an 80 year old. I am only 63.
I just saw your question. From the post, it looks like you have already had your hip replacement surgery. I hope it went well. I had to have extensive physical therapy after my second hip replacement… read more

Is there anything that a woman can 5ake that isn't going rapid weight gain? I have gone from 248 to 179 lbs...now with 5 weeks of Fosamax I am 184. I worked to hard to lose the weight...I have a growth on my L4 and L5 and have a compression fracture of L5. I needed to lose weight for the surgery to take the growth off. Now I can barely walk, so I can't do 4 miles that I was doing every day.
Thank you. I was losing weight...now up to 188. I can't go over 200 again.
