Treatment..

I was diagnosed in my late 30's then in my late 40's told the scans were wrong so treatment stopped. My last Dexa scan said osteoporosis in spine and osteopenia in hips. The only treatment I have been given is Vit D /calcium but I was already on this the dosage was just upped. Is this the only treatment I will be getting? I am just 50 and my monthlies stopped in my 30's.

Another really informative book is Bone Health Guide by Dr. Lani's (Amazon). The Truth about density testing, osteoporosis drugs and building bone quality at any age.

Book idea...The Whole-Body Approach to Osteoporosis.
There is some technical info about how bone develops at the beginning but it includes symptoms, dietary ideas and exercise.

I need to get me a book on Osteo. When I retired from nursing in my 60’s I gave all my text books away. I don’t use the internet for research much any more, so I will check out Amazon. I would think early care could slow down developement or try to prevent complications.

Thanks Betsy. I am a person who learns best through reading. Osteoporosis is a rather vague disease to me. It seems like you are told you have osteopenia then not much is done to reverse the situation. I need to find out more about bone growth and that seems like a good source of information. I will go to the library. Thanks for telling me about it.
