Can I Strengthen My Femur Thru Exercise And Medication? I Also Have Severe Arthritis In My Left Hip.
I am scheduled for a hip replacement in March due to arthritis but have also been told due to my osteoporosis they may need to use cement because my femur is that of an 80 year old. I am only 63.
I just saw your question. From the post, it looks like you have already had your hip replacement surgery. I hope it went well. I had to have extensive physical therapy after my second hip replacement for muscle strengthening and gait training. I never realized how important a correct walking gait is for spine health, well, for everything. The weight bearing of a good walking gait will strengthen the muscles and bones in your legs. The stronger your legs are the easier it is for your spine and back. My PT has recommended that I target leg strengthening exercises so I make sure I do those three times a week at the gym. I have to be cautious that I don't overdo the weights because of my hip replacements and there are some machines I can't use at all because they would cause too much stress on the joint.
Have you had any issues with your hip replacement? How recently did you have the surgery?
