Members shared mixed experiences and advice when someone asked whether cortisone injections are safe while taking Prolia for osteoporosis. Several members recommended consulting with an endocrinologist or physician before proceeding, noting that cortisone and corticosteroid injections can thin bones, though one member's doctor reassured them that Prolia helps counteract this effect. A recurring theme was the importance of checking for drug interactions and balancing pain relief with bone health concerns, with members sharing personal stories of receiving epidural steroids, joint injections, and oral steroids while on Prolia with varying outcomes.

"Before" taking a cortisone injection, it seems like a really good idea to call your endocrinologist for approval.

While on Prolia I had 5 epidural steroid injections into my spine for spine problems. I was also on Budesonide, a steroid for 9 months. I discussed the bone thinning with my Endo. She said it was good that I was on Prolia to counteract it.
