Is Anyone Taking A Daily Low-dose Prednisone, Like Forever?
My doctor said I could take the low-dose prednisone or get shots in my neck. I couldn't decide so he put me on prednisone for 2 or so weeks. But I'm thinking of getting the shots in my neck because I understand prednisone has a lot of side effects, let alone that it deteriorates the bones more!
My partner was put on very high dosage of prednisone to counteract side effects of immunotherapy treatment for brain cancer. The prednisone affected his lungs, liver, skin, kidneys and stomach. He also had diabetes from it so had to take injections to check his blood sugar everyday. He put on more than 10 kg in weight and that has affected his self esteem. He’s now practically starving himself to get rid of the weight. Also having pain in his hip, legs and neck even though he stopped the prednisone in Early December.
I have taken this, for a short period, it wasn't for me.
I have had both. I have a plate and screws in my neck. I will not take prednisone any more but I have gotten the shots and they helped me the most.
Thank you everyone for your responses! I ended up not picking up the prescription and getting the shot instead. The shot is helping a lot. Other than the first initial burn, the shot wasn't bad; however, I passed out. I tried to tell them but couldn't talk. A 20 minute procedure ended up taking an hour and a half. I don't want to go on prednisone but I don't think the doctor will do the shot again for me! I will find out in 2 weeks!
