Are Long Walks Good Or Bad
I go on long walks for exercise . 2-3 miles, alot of it uphill. When I get back or almost back home, I find my hips are sore and so is my back, especially my back the next morning. I know walking is good for arthritis, but is it good for osteoporosis as well? The pain is tolerable, but I was just wondering if walking is a good thing for me.
Yes walking is good for osteoporosis, but sounds like you are hiking. Be aware of your body and try just walking on a smoother surface for the same amount of time. See if there's a difference with your back. Take care of yourself more.🌹
Sounds like you might be pushing it, maybe half the distance. Hills put a lot of stress on the body, particularly knees and backs. It’s better to aim for time than distance. With hill climbing it might be better to drop back to 20 mins a day.
Walking is a great weight bearing activity. Moderation and flat walks best, I’ve heard.
Hi Mindy, I can’t walk long distances any more my ribs sit inside of my hips now and this causes me a lot of pain in my hips when on my feet for too long. But keep on walking as Corene said try walking on the flat ground, any exercise you are able to do is very good for you but in moderation
Walking good, but not too much if it causes pain.
