Is Coffee Ok Or Not?
I have been reading and the studies seem to have mixed reviews on drinking coffee (caffeine). I love my coffee and have cut back, not just on the amount but am now doing half-caff half decaff. Thoughts?
Yes, but it’s more about caffeine being a diutertic. Nutrients are absorbed in the intestines. So, if your kidneys increase urination your electrolyte levels decrease in your blood thus causing an imbalance in homeostasis which flushes nutrients out of the system before they have time to be absorbed. The acid in coffee tends to affect the stomach, particuarly those with acid reflux, etc.
My doctors all agree that coffee in moderation isn’t bad for osteoporotic patients. I chose to give up caffeine and alcohol anyhow. My husband has acid reflux and he drinks a 6 oz mug every morning. He couldn’t give it up. He does have a banana or applesauce to calm his stomach first.
I quit drinking coffee. Instead, I have decaffeinated green tea in the morning and decaffeinated coffee as a treat once in a while. And, I was a coffee achiever before. It was a hard adjustment. But, it’s easier to form habits than break them. I’m finding that out in a short span. It caused me anxiety for a couple of weeks. Ugh, lifestyle adjustments can make you feel alone amongst family and friends. Take care. Blessings!
Deborah K although I love hot tea, especially green tea I cannot drink it as it really upsets my stomach especially in the morning
