Members discussed whether taking 2000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily supports bone density, with many emphasizing the importance of pairing it with Vitamin K2, magnesium, zinc, and calcium to help the body actually absorb and use these nutrients in the bones rather than just circulating them in the bloodstream. Several members shared that their doctors recommended varying doses ranging from 1000 to 6000 IU depending on individual blood work and health conditions, with some noting improvements in bone health, stronger nails, and higher Vitamin D levels after adding K2 to their regimen. A recurring theme was that more is not always better, that Vitamin D levels and individual needs vary widely, and that consulting with a doctor and getting regular blood work is essential to finding the right dose without risking kidney damage or other harm from excessive supplementation.

Hi,
I take 1000 units a day (doctor recommended) I also drink milk and eat yogurt. I also exercise. I am hoping all of that helps. I won't know until my next dexa scan. I do have to say that my nails seem stronger. I know that sounds a little odd, but I have never been able to have long nails without them cracking or breaking before. I would ask your doctor though.

My radiation doctor has me take 2000 units of D3 daily. It helps the body absorb calcium. I also take a pill for my cancer daily that messes up the bones. So other people might not need such a large dose. Ask your doctor how much YOU should take. You should be able to obtain that information with a phone call to your doctor. Vitamin D3 is a good thing but the amount an individual takes varies.

Yep, the last priority for our body, in regard to calcium distribution, is our fingernails. So if we haven't been consuming enough calcium (and its friends to get it absorbed), we are going to have flimsy, breaking, flaking nails. Extra selenium helps, too. Some people are using extra calogen for their nails and hair. I wish they had taught us at school, how the body uses all of these vitamins and minerals, and what they're for, and how they all affect and work with each other. Maybe it's a case of fearing what the masses might do with all that information! We might be able to stay healthy! 😲😳😏πŸ’ͺ🦴

I take that dose, and it is working well. I have not found my doctors to be particularly knowlegable about vitamins, or nutrition, and the tests they do are averaged out over statistical population data, not me amd my body. I know my mind has improved greatly with vit D.....
D for Depression! D for "der....". And it's essential for calcium absorbtion, as are K2, magnesium & zinc. Latest research also shows 2 special proteins in milk, that are are essential for cal absorbtion. My fingernails have been growing at last, now that l have an extra glass of milk per day!! (And f/nails are the last priority for the body, when it comes to cal distribution!) So l take l capsule (1000) vit D for my bones, and one for my mind. Also, just a note... levels of cal or D that show in a bloodtest, do not indicate much,in regard to whether those nutrients are being used by your bones. That's why K2, zinc, mag & D are so essential. Having cal etc in your blood only indicates that it's floating in your blood, not that it's able to be absorbed by your skeleton. The other nutrients work together to get it from your bloodstream into your bones. That's why He who invented and designed milk, put them all together in the one package! πŸΆπŸ§€πŸ˜€πŸ‘ l hope this is helpful to you. Lotsa love. God bless you. β€πŸ«‚πŸ˜ŠπŸ„πŸ‘πŸπŸ₯›

Yes, Caltrate Calcium and Vitamin D have a great effect on bone density but adding Marine Collagen improves your bone density further. These combined with weight bearing exercises can make a difference faster. If you do not exercise, skipping or even walking are both weight bearing.
