Opinion Please. OP Rather Than MD. Dr Has Over 25 Yrs As Family Practitioner.Includes Member Of Osteoporosis Foundation. Possible New Dr?
I was referred to an endocrinologist by my oncologist because the medication I was taking for breast cancer, Arimidex, can cause osteoporosis. That has been discontinued since it has been 5 yrs. since my partial mastectomy. I have had both an M.D. & a D.O. as my PCP & both were excellent. They have left the practice & now I have an NP. She is very nice but previously did pediatric cardiology, so the jury is out on how thorough my care will be.
I have had a DO and MD for my primary doctor over the years. Both women. Both needed to refer me to an endocrinologists for prescribing treatments for Osteoporosis. I prefer going to a primary doctor MD now as this doctor is in a larger practice with specialists that I need. Check each doctors network.
Sounds like I’d give him a go
I have several doctors for various issues, but after I fell & broke my femur in 3 places , my primary doc referred me to an endocrinologist. I’ve had lots of blood work and 24 hr urine tests coming up. I’m now prescribed Forteo, daily injectable. It’s hard to know if it’s “working, “ but I may be able to get a DXA scan sooner than 2 years.
May I show my ignorance by asking what an OP is? I am guessing an osteoporosis practitioner, but I have never heard of that before. If there is such an animal, I would want to see him. So go for it, London. let us know if you like him. And how is he different from your GP?
