Getting a crown is not dangerous at all because they do not go into your gums or underneath. I know they are expensive, BUT, if you don't get a crown to protect that tooth from breaking or decay and they would have to pull it, or give you a root canal, that would be very dangerous for chancing Osteonecrosis of the jaw.
