Hello Penny. You were given horrible advice about not taking the Prolia and being offered an alternative. I have taken Prolia for 8 years with minimal side effects. That was after 4 years of other treatments. I am fortunate to have an endocrinologist who is also a researcher. When she takes me off of the Prolia, I will already be receiving IV Reclast to avoid more fractures if possible. I am always amazed at physicians who just think you can not take anything once you were already treated. Unfortunately our heredity and other medical conditions have their effects on our bones. Good luck to you.

Thanks Maureen. No fractures or loss of height, but my doc recommended I start Prolia. I declined for now. It's a lot to take in and I'm trying to educate myself before making a decision.

Hello Linda. It’s always difficult to decide which treatment options are best for you. If you have not had any fractures or major loss of height, an oral medication might be a first step in treatment along with all of the other things you are doing. Wishing you well.

@A MyOsteoTeam Member hello I have been getting Prolia injections for a few years now and I am taking 2x 1000iu Vitamin D 3 plus there is Calcium in the tablets and it has definitely helped my bones to recover from numerous fractures this year in some pretty serious falls. Hugs from Judyxx

I was on Prolia for 6 years, moved away to another state so I had to get a new endocrinologist. My latest Dexa scan showed I went from osteoporosis to osteopenia so it helped and I didn’t have any side effects. This new doctor took me off of it and said my bones needed a vacation for a year. I told him the insert that came with Prolia said if you suddenly stop this medication you could have hip or spinal fractures. 2 months later I had 6 spinal fractures! Then I went on Tymlos for 2 years and I’m back on Prolia.
