Do You Follow A Specific Diet To Help With Osteoporosis?

I don’t follow any specific diet except to eat as healthy as possible.

Diet is very important to build bone, bones are alive and need high quality nutrients and we need to avoid all foods that cause inflammation which interferes with bone development. Protein is extremely important, along with exercise building mussels builds bones, mussel development signals need for stronger bones and the body goes to work making bones stronger. Eating non gmo organic fruits and veggies gives more nutrition to your body and more minerals. Bones are made up of 11 minerals and over 70 trace minerals so calcium is not the answer is much more than calcium to build bones. I use Beam Minerals and Electrolites, in filtered water to make sure i am getting all the minerals my bones need. Cutting back on sugar, refined flower foods, and drinking only water, no soda or teas or other beverages especially sweeten beverages…. Water with a pinch of Celtic salt or lemon will keep your system balanced. You can grow bone, I reversed my right hip neck from full blown osteoporosis to none, the other neck to osteopenia, and improved my spine as well. I also take collegian, choline, and creatinine daily and liquid Vitiman D3 and liquid Vidiman K1, Mk7, K2. What we put in our body matters. My doc was surprised that since i decided to do my research and do what made me feel better and fell like i was getting stronger I had positive results. I am a 4X cancer survivor and i know for sure clean food, water, and supplements make a big difference. You litterly are what you eat, what goes into your mouth determines the level of your overall health. I gave up sugar completely, do not eat any grains no breads, pasta, cake, rolls donuts etc,, except for aged sour dough bread. Ido not eat any processed foods, I stick to organic foods, grass fed, pasture raised meats, fresh Alaska salmon and cod, and only grass fed dairy, and pasture raised eggs, and i have massive energy, I am 78 yrs old, I gained 15 lbs was 120 went to 135 but still wear size 6, bones and mussels increases your body weight, Good luck to everyone. Feeling good, having energy and no more fear of fracture is worth all the diet changes. I can jump rope with my grand daughter and we can go tracking in the Red River Gorge, Life if full no more fear. Hoping success for all.

Ah yes, diet plays a big role in how we heal, and whether we stay healthy! There are some simple and excellent ways we can help our bodies heal from osteoporosis, and this is what l do: it is not rocket science, nor is it expensive, or fiddly.
Consume high calcium food and drink, in its natural form, so that you are getting the Full Package Deal, as the Original Designer intended. That is, natural cheese, milk, cream, yoghurt, custard, green leafy vegetables, almonds, prunes....Read Your Labels!! Walking each day helps to set the bones up for calcium replenishment at night, and will lower bad colesterol, and burn fat, so consuming these should not prove to be detrimental!
I used to buy high-calcium/low fat milk, until l read the label, and found that all they were doing was using skim milk (low fat) and adding skim milk powder to it (with a few chemicals!), to raise the calcium levels. I figured that l could manage to do that myself, and cut out the added nasties(!), so l did. I have made my own for years, adding a quarter of a cup of skim milk powder, to a litre of skim milk. (So shake a bit off, when you're using a pint.) Mix with a hand blender/whisk. Nowadays, l have to be careful how much l lift and carry, so l actually buy powdered skim milk, and make it up a bit strong. I love how l can get a great flavour, without the fat. 'Cos l hate skim milk, but will drink this readily. (Also, as l am trying to lose weight, I try to have a glass before a main meal, and eat less carbs... working well, and making a big difference!)
There are 2 things that very much interfere with magnesium absorption (and when that happens, it can virtually stop calcium absorption!)... alcohol and caffeine. Switching to non-alcoholic and non-caffeinated drinks will massively help. Keeping the lid on caffeine will also allow better Deep Sleep, which is when calcium is laid down in our bones, so that's a double whammy! The effects of caffeine last at least 10 hours, and can also have a rebound effect, several hours later... which is why some people who consume caffeinated drinks all day, seem to be able to sleep, but then are up with the birdies, and totally unable to sleep in, even when sick or exhausted... not good for the body (especially the skeleton and the immune system), or the brain!
I think that's about it. Daily walking has to be in there, to get that calcium into the bones at night.... the muscles take it from the bones when moving, then the bones absorb it from the bloodstream whilst the body is in deep sleep. Vit K2(7) is the catalyst for this process, and taking a therapeutic dose of that vitamin (180mcg per day) and also of magnesium (mixed types, but l don't recommend citrate, as it can upset your tummy!), zinc and vit D and C, will help speed the healing process.

No I just try to eat healthy but high doses of vitamin D have helped me with pain

I believe food is medicine. Walking is the best exercise. I do get a Prolia shot every 6 months. I also have to be careful because of my high cholesterol. I watch my fats and sugar intake. It's a balance because I love sweets and cheese. I have a table top exerciser for my arms and legs which helps too. I like the Mediterranean diet which is one of the best diets or rather it's a life style way to eat. Also I have gone from osteoporosis to osteopenia. I do a lot of research everyday.
