Has Anyone Taking Tymlos Or Forteo?
The only thing I’ve found that helps my pain is to lay on my left side with a soft pillow behind my back and one between my knees. That’s how I can go into a deep sleep. Unfortunately the only other way to get away from the pain is drugs, which I don’t like to take.
Forteo is the daily injection that grows bone. The first couple months I took it I did have bone pain. The Dr said it was from bone actually growing.... like growing pains. Now I started the prolia and have some joint pain and acid reflux but it’s not terrible. The prolia will help preserve the bone the forteo built.
GinnyMccarthy I also passed one kidney stone and have one lodged in my kidney. My bone health specialist took me off calcium and then monitored the calcium in my body closely for the rest of the time I was on the forteo. Now I’ve been switched to prolia and I’m back on calcium (a plant based calcium).
For almost 3 years. My bone health specialist said they could keep me on it safely for 3 years. I had 11% increase in bone in my spine. Unfortunately it didn’t help my hips. Hopefully the prolia will.
I was diagnosed in Nov 2018 with advanced osteoporosis. Their is an Osteoporosis Center at our hospital that wants me to start the Forteo. I have read alot of reviews and side effects sound pretty bad, but not sure what to do. Prolia is other option. Side effects there not sure it won't be just as bad as fozamax that I couldn't take. Anyone have advice?
Thanks
