Anyone Taking Tymlos?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Minneapolis, MN

I have been self injecting Tymlos daily for 19 months now and have seen improvement in my dexa scans. I am now considered to have osteopenia instead of osteoporosis. My doc says my bone density is expected to get even better for up to a year after my last dose which will be next March. I went without any dairy for years and years but have learned to drink almond milk, calcium fortified orange juice and daily calcium and vitamin D supplements. I wish I had been doing that all along. I tried Tymlos but was experiencing "delayed atypical side effects" according to my dr. I'll be getting my 3rd Prolia shot in Feb.

Thanks for the information. I will Start Forteo (similar to Tymlos) in a few months. I would start it sooner but don’t want to go near any medical facility due to Covid. Hope I find it as successful as you did.

Kuhn - As far as side effects go, the only side effect I experienced was atypical. I sometimes get pain across my lower back shortly after the shot. I lay down and it subsides. I learned to take my shot before bed and it is rarely a problem. I did report it to my doc, my pharmacy, Tymlos and the nurse that trained me on taking shots. They didn’t show anyone else having this side effect besides myself, so atypical. Other than that no side effects!

I have never heard of this - Tymlos - Must check it out - I would approach my Dr - I am due for my only 2nd Prolia jab later this month. I believe this can only be taken for up to 4 years only. I shall check with my Dr next visit, I try to keep active and eat calcium enriched foods - Dates and broccoli contain calcium also.

Thinking about starting a parathyroid stimulator like Tymlos. I'd be interested to know what if any side effects you had. I know you can only take it for 2 years but I don't know if it is worth the cost (which is substantial).
