I only took fosemax once, the once a week dose. I had many side effects, joint pain, chills, stomach ache, headache, spent 1st day in bed. Pain in joints lasted 6 days. I won't be taking it again.

I took Fosomax for 5 years with good results. MD said I needed a drug holiday from it (to keep the rest of me healthy). Bones deteriorated after being off and have now just started Prolia. I didn’t have any problems that I remember when using the fosomax

Well I was suppose to start this morning and I couldn’t do it :(
I find there are to many side effects. I’ll try again next week.

I have been on it for a year now. I won't know if it has been effective for at least another year. I have had no side effects that I know of.

I also just started taking it. My doctor has been on me to take it since I had a compression fracture 2 years ago but I've resisted. I finally gave in and just started taking it a month or so ago. My next dexascan is this month. First one I have had since originally diagnosed 2 years ago. Have been taking Algaecal (type of calcium supplement) - was resistant to the Fosamax due to the side effects.
