Has Anyone Had Any Success With Adding Powdered Collagen Supplement To Their Diet To Build Bone And Have Better Numbers On The Dexa Scan?
My doctor wants me to start taking Fosamax because of osteoporosis. I have heard about lots of bad side effects. I thought I would try powdered collagen before taking more meds. Also, if you are on Fosamax, has your bone density gotten any better. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!
I have been taking collagen protein powder in my coffee every morning along with all my vitamins and exercising, I have had too many bad side effects with all of the medicine they have tried using on me. I try to keep my diet to where it is strengthening my bones and giving me the correct vitamins. I walk daily unless it is storming or really really cold! I have not tried Fosamax that I can recall, I have tried prolia and Forteo and that was enough for meβ¦. Got bad side effects from both. I make myself exercise every morning except Sundays and try to get out walking daily if possible. I believe a good diet, vitamins and exercise play a big role in osteoporosis! Good luck with whatever you choose to do and God Bless ππΌ

Yes my bone density got better on fosax. No noticeable side effects. But now am onProlia every 6month injection. No side effects either...Listen to your Dr.
I felt I could control loss by exercising, walking 4 miles daily, strengthening with weights, eating healthy, but still was losing bone quickly. I have been on Fosamax for two years and have just about stopped my bone lost. At first a little stomach upset, but after the first month never had a side effect.
Collagen bothers my stomach. What collagen products is everyone taking? Did not know it comes in pill form?
I added a collagen supplement in pill form 3 times per week and 2 sawgrass palmeto. This is in addition to Tymlos and other supplements.
You know I started the fosamax a couple of weeks ago. The first pill kind of made me feel bad, stomach acid, nausea, fatigue. But the next week I could barely tell I took it. I am also taking a really good collagen powder every morning. I take my third fosamax in the morning. We will see how it goes. My brother is a family practice physician. He told me most of his patients only experienced acid reflux and stomach issues. I asked him if it actually worked? He said about half his patients stopped bone loss and most of the other half reversed their bone loss. He said to take calcium twice a day and D3. I am also taking K2-7 and 4, Boron and liquid magnesium. So we will see. I have a couple of years before my next DEXA scan.
