Happy New Year, Has Anyone Had Reclast Or Had Any Information About This Injection Or About Side Effects, Thank You!
Hi Mickey. I have been taking Prolia twice a year for the past 6 years. Started off in 2012 daily injections of Forteo. I had a major fracture of the first lumbar spine and was in a brace for about 2 years. At the time, I was 51. I required aggressive treatment because of genetics, loss of height and difficulty walking. My bone density numbers were never the reason for my course of treatment. I had 2 doses of IV Reclast and still had another fracture of the 3rd lumbar vertebrae in 2017. I needed kyphoplasty as the fracture was displaced and I couldn’t walk. In April of 2024 I will be into the 7th year of Prolia. Every person’s experience is different. Long term chronic conditions and medications can influence the development of OP. I lost over 5 inches of height in total. Ask questions and seek advice from an endocrinologist too. Be wary of blanket statements that discourage the use of medication. Yes there are risks. For myself, I had no choice. Best of luck to you in the future.
Hello Mickey. I know you are in Boston. I follow up at Tufts with a wonderful endocrinologist. Hoping you have good advice from your doctors regarding medication options for the Osteoporosis.
