Hello Everyone. Can You Give Views On Taking Evista.
Hi Helen6,
I probably answered your question on this topic under Raloxifene question earlier.
Evista is the brand name for the drug Raloxifene.
Hoping to get a dexa soon and can tell you if itβs made a difference for me but I intend to stop the drug in January due to intolerable side affects
Take care,
Sondra
Sorry bev... Forgot answer... No it's mimics estrogen called serm antagonist... Whatever that is!
Yes I agree with you. Trouble is I keep having breaks.. Resisted treatment but bowing to peer pressure. I honestly didn't realise how severe this disease was until too late.
Thanku for your input and advice.
Is it a biphosfinate (sp?) drug? If so, it works by inhibiting the release if old (dead!) bone from our skeletons. This can make our scans look good... but lots of latest research has found that disrupting the natural process of discarding old-bone is actually not such a good idea after all: it seems that the process of discard has been designed to stimulate the development of new bone! So when those drugs slow down the discard of old bone, it is slowing bone replacement to a crawl.... Not very impressive, especially in the light of the other known side-effects. I want new, strong, natural bone, not the retention of old, dead bone that makes a pleasing density scan, but continues to become more and more fragile! It's no wonder that the biphosfinates can only be taken for a limited length of time! So I will continue with the diet/supplements/exercise route to getting my skeleton back. Hope this is helpful. May God bless you. Love and hugs, Bev x0 πβ€π«πͺπ¦΄π€ΈββοΈ
