Has Anyone Experienced Vertebral Fractures And Scoliosis?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Albuquerque, NM

I refused bone meds out of fear of side effects and have suffered four vertebral fractures and scoliosis. I am miserable and now my oncologist says they probably can’t be fixed by Kyphoplasty because I have discs involved. But I need an MRI and to see a neurosurgeon. I’ve been in a recliner for seven months and I feel my life is over. Can anyone relate or help me?

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Forteo--Teriparatide - Should I Or Should I Not-questioning The Drug? Wondering About The Bone Cancer.

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Bradenton, FL

I am 56. Osteoporosis runs in the family. I was diagnosed two years ago at the age of 54 with a T-Scan of -3.3 in the lower spine. I tried Fosmax and everything hurt and jumped off after a few months. At that time I discovered a wonderful gym here in Florida that has a bone building program. My T-Scan has remained the same after two years of working out and a change of diet. However, my doctor (and this is the second opinion) suggests that with my younger age (and I am active) and the severity… read more

Forteo

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Gig Harbor, WA

I fractured my femur bone, had surgery to implant titanium rods, and took a long time to recover. My diagnosis is Osteoporosis. I take Tums for calcium. I wonder why I wasn’t prescribed something like Forteo. I was told that my condition usually worsens, and I am high risk for more fractures.

Has anyone else been prescribed only Tums?

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Awaiting your answer in 6 weeks. I must admit, I have rarely found natural or homeopathic remedies effective.

What Type Of Doctor Do You Go To For Osteoporosis? (after Diagnosed)

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Pittsburgh, PA

I was diagnosed via a Dexascan by my GYN. She has since retired, and I would prefer someone who is trained in osteoporosis.

A MyOsteoTeam Member

I think there was one great doctor for Osteoporosis, Dr. Darah Morgan. She retired. Everybody else goes by what the pharmaceutical salespeople are pushing. I do have a friend from India who is an MD… read more

Diagnosed With Osteoporosis

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed today. I haven’t stopped crying. I have been a very healthy person. I’m scared after reading about the side effects of all those medications. I wonder if there are people who have decided not to take any medication and treat it just with a good diet and exercise. Is that a good idea?
Thanks,

A MyOsteoTeam Member

I am happy to hear you are getting great treatment. God Bless
