Are Pilates And Weight Exercise The Best?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Brisbane, AU

After I went from osteopenia to osteoporosis, I started weight exercise and also reformer pilates, once a week.
Just had a bone density scan and my bone density increased by over 2 %.
I'm now back to osteopenia.

Is this combination of exercise the best,
what is your recommendation?

Does Any Medication Actually Repair Our Bones?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
spsring, texas

Does Fosomax actgually work? Does Prolia actually work? Bad side effects for everything. Sometimes I think I want to just do nothing. Because I still work, (have to) still paying for my kids college and 10 more yrs of house payments, etc. My doctor even comments that "sometimes there is breaks in the femur" or other bones" while using this mediciation. Isn't it supposed to make them strong instead of weaker? I think Medicine sometimes causes other problems. I wouldn't have this if I… read more

Medicine Side Effects

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Madison Heights, VA

My doctor is telling me I need to go on meds for my Osteo. My Son, who is in the dental field, is telling me that all of these meds affect your gums and teeth; sometimes making dental procedures more risky and harder. I don't want this. What are your experiences and what meds do you recommend. And what natural things can I do.

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Google the meds and check out the side effects. I have turned them down because of the side effects and going the natural route.

What Is The Best Relief For Muscle Pain Due To Old Compression Fractures?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Shavertown, PA

I fell on my butt 2 years ago and thought I was fine, until 2 weeks later I could barely move and the pain in my back was excruciating. I was diagnosed 9 years ago with osteo, at age 52. I finally had x-rays and discovered I had 3 compression fractures. I went through 2 rounds of PT, but I still have pain and discomfort in my mid-back (fractures were on T-12, 7, and 9) if I do too much activity. Doctor just says to put ice and heat on it, of course I can't do that unless I am home. I can't keep… read more

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
West Kelowna, B.C

I have recently had a mysterious pelvic hip fracture so my dr has recommended Prolia injections. Just seeking some info on your experience with this treatment. Did it increase bone density? Did you experience side effects? Do you think it is an effective treatment? Would really appreciate your comments! Thanks!

Osteoporosis And Osteoarthritis

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Boston, MA

It seems like many people that have osteoporosis also have osteoarthritis which also effects the bones. Hard to work on both at the same time. Any suggestions

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Thank you, Carley, you are so right that one change can make a huge difference. I am glad that you found the video useful. I really liked that the doctor explained why each movement was important.

Does Anyone Have Any Proof That Medications Improve Spinal Bone Density Or Strength?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Reading, KS

Have a Dexa T score of -4.2 Two spinal compression fractures plus a more recent wrist break where the end of the arm bone has crumbled away. Also one shoulder joint has been taken out because damage was so bad.

I believe long term use of asthma medications have largely contributed to my osteoporosis. I'm sensitive to medication, am unconvinced from what I have read that medication increases bone density or strength in the spine. My mother suffered necrosis of the jaw due to medications… read more
