Hair And Scalp

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Cody, WY

I have found info about osteoporosis causing hair loss for some people.
My question is - does it cause you to have an itchy scalp - not dandruff. Just a very itch scalp that feels tight when you scratch.
Just checking to see if there is anyone else out there with this.
Thanks and let’s all have a great day!

Hair is more prone to breaking with the same lack of vits/minerals as causes osteoporosis ... a lot of us are finding that a "hair/skin/nails" supplement is very helpful. Can contain silica, selenium… read more

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭

How can I quit prolia safely and without taking another drug? Is it possible?

I did Prolia 4 x and felt great on it. I did have a spinal fusion last summer because I had two synovial cysts and a slipped disc. I think my trouble came from a fall I took six months earlier

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Portland, OR

If so, have you:
□ gotten better
□ stayed the same
□ gotten worse
Personally I take 70mg alendronate tablet 1x a week for the last year. My worse t-score is -3.3 in one of my vertebrae.
Thank you!

Calcium Citrate is more easily absorbed by bones and taking K2 with calcium will direct it to bones, not the heart. I have stopped taking Alendronate after 2 1/2 yrs because of the potential… read more

Side Affects?? Anyone With Out Side Affects From Alendronate?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
NM

I was diagnosed a year ago ( hips) and have NOT taken any medication. I went to the doctor today and of course she was not happy and gave me the push to take alendronate once a week. The side affects right on the package are alarming. Esophagus problems, bone pain, jaw bone problems, thigh bone fractures etc. When I asked her about these she said “they have to tell you all of these but they are rare”. Is there anyone who has taken this medication and NOT had any side affects???

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Not side effects from Fosamax. I feel it is really helping to slow down and or stop bone loss. Took me a while to decide to go on Fosamax but glad I did

I Have Osteopenia And The Doctor Wants Me To Start Me On Fosamax

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Boston, MA

I have Osteopenia and the doctor wants to start me on Fosamax.
Has anyone taken this and any side effects? Any improvements with this medication?
How long have you been on Fosamax?
Really thought I. Oils slow down my bone loss by supplements, vitamins, eating healthy and exercising, but my bone loss is increasing.

A MyOsteoTeam Member

@A MyOsteoTeam Member, Hi Betty, I read on the Fosamax web site one of the side effects is Jaw bone loss. Sorry. There's so many side effects on so many of those drugs it's really hard to commit to… read more

Do I Have To Give Up Golf?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Berkley, MI

I avoid yoga poses that bend at the waist. I modify any frontward bends by bending my knees. Somewhere I either read or heard that I should give up golfing due to the twisting involved in my swing. Thoughts on this? Anyone out there with osteoporosis in spine still golfing?

A MyOsteoTeam Member

Great news! I hope the diet and exercise changes I have made will show some improvement at my next scan. How far apart will your scans be? I am going to try and get one after one year of changes… read more
