Forteo And Its Similars

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
New York, NY

Hello,

Has anyone been on teriparatide therapy?
I am 58 years old and my doctor insists that I start some cure similar to Forteo (I can't remember the exact name now), but I have never been really friendly towards medicines and drugs. Once I ended up at CityMd because of half a pill of Tylenol...
Either my body is very sensitive or I am an irrecoverable hypochondriac.
I am terrified about the possible side effects.

Thank you,
Renata

Does Levothyroxine Cause Bone Loss?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Bellingham, WA

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC41...

I thought I'd read somewhere that Levothyroxine can cause bone loss; this article confirms it. I don't even know why I'm on levothyroxine, it doesn't do anything for my thin, brittle fingernails, nor my energy, and I don't have any of the symptoms other women describe as to why they are on it. It seems to make my lab work look better, but if it is causing bone loss, I should get off it. Is anyone else aware of this issue, and how many of us are… read more

Sounds like me. Although my hair is ok, but the thin, brittle fingernails mean I have to carry fingernail clippers with me all the time, as the slightest bump and the nails will just crack and break… read more

Tymlos And Back Pain

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Mc Cormick, SC

Have been managing my back pain for several years. Started Tymlos on April 24th. No side effects, except after two weeks giving myself Tymlos injections, developed horrible pain in my vertebrae and unable to get out of this pain cycle with my usual medications, exercise and my most treasured possession, my heating pad!
Has anyone else experienced the same? If so, is this a side effect that subsided? Any other suggestions welcome.

Alendronate Or Alendronic Acid Has Anyone Found That This Medication Exacerbates Existing Arthritis Joint Pain?

A MyOsteoTeam Member asked a question 💭
Atlanta, GA

I am starting to suspect that flaring of my existing arthritis joint pain is connected with my use of this medication. It began a few weeks into my use of weekly generic Fosamax, and flares up anew each time i take another weekly dose.

I see Dr. Ybarra and he is really good. My son goes to him and he got me in. Just had the ablation done on Monday. Sure do hope your back improves. I wasn't a candidate for surgery either.
